OFFICE OF RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND COMMERCIALIZATION (ORIC)
INTRODUCTION
The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) is operational at the Rawalpindi Women University (RWU). The ORIC RWU is working according to the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for all universities/DAIs of Pakistan to establish “Offices of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC)”. As technological advancements have become increasingly cutting edge and the emerging industries have become more high-tech universities have occupied the central stage in the process of new inventions, novel innovations and commercialization of end products. Universities have become more entrepreneurial and targeting the technology transfer to non-traditional fields, which creates the need for an alternative conceptualization of technology transfer that is more accurate, economical and community-oriented than the conventional models.
The ORIC delivers end-to-end services in all matters of research and development, innovation, inventions, commercialization, intellectual property, national and international collaborations, conduction of seminars/symposia/ conferences/ training & awareness workshops, matters related to research publication, honorariums etc. Specifically, the ORIC serves as the focal point for all research-related activities of the University by facilitating the university researchers to promote their research work both on national and international platforms.

To work for a knowledge-based economy fostering ingenuity, novelty and entrepreneurship. Facilitation of RWU to become an innovative center of the latest knowledge leading to the exploration of novel research, publicization of newly acquired data & nurture of creativity, innovation and commercialization.
MISSION
Self-reliance is the focal point of ORIC which is working under the umbrella of Rawalpindi Women University Rawalpindi. Innovative and community-oriented research excellence in all fields of study is of prime importance in opening new avenues of research innovation and commercialization. Expansion of horizon to improve, magnify and direct technological advancement in all fields of sciences and humanities, foster dissemination of skills and ideas through brilliance in research, outreach, linkages and promotion of entrepreneurship.
OBJECTIVES & FUNCTIONS
The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), RWU is striving to:
- Provide a one-stop office for supporting, advising, and monitoring the quality of research.
- Facilitate the research output that will enhance the knowledge-building environment at Rawalpindi Women University.
- Develop sustainable and long-term links with funding agencies for supporting research, innovation, and commercialization activities.
- Strengthening university-industry relationships for the promotion of innovative research.
- Promoting entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and commercialization activities that energize and support the local and national economy.
- Promoting and enhancing cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives.
- Mobilize assets towards safeguarding applied and inter-disciplinary research projects from national and international funding agencies.
- Dealing with the Intellectual Property Rights (IP) matters to protect the interests of researchers and faculty members at RWU.
- Ensuring that research meets the highest ethical and quality standards through open and transparent processes.
- Communicate and devise priority areas according to the market demand in collaboration with the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) for research studies and highlight the research achievements of the RWU.
- Ensure that the quality of research reflects the highest international keeping in view the priority areas set by Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB).
