TRAINING FOR FINANCIAL AUTONOMY OF PUBLIC SECTOR UNIVERSITIES AT G.C UNIVERSITY, LAHORE

Dr. Motsim Billah, Additional Director ORIC attended 04 days of training on the “Financial Autonomy of Public Sector Universities” held at G.C University, Lahore. The training provided useful platform to build the capacity of the university administration for financial autonomy through various initiatives including revenue enhancement and fund generation. The program included features of the framework for financial autonomy, as well as, better financial management, guidelines for endowment funds, internal and external audits, and tax matters. It was an interactive program and all participants keenly contributed to the discussion in all sessions. The practical applicability of the concepts was of prime interest to the participants.

CAPACITY BUILDING COURSE FOR RESEARCHERS

Dr. Motsim Billah, Additional Director ORIC participated in a four-day Research Capacity Building Programme conducted from 5^th September, 2022 to 8^th September, 2022 at Marriot Hotel, Islamabad by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the British Council, Pakistan under the Pak-UK Education Gateway project. This Programme was meant for the management of researchers of higher education institutions serving in Pakistan. It is of immense pleasure to share that the research group of Rawalpindi Women University comprising faculty/researchers of FJWU, AIOU and Punjab Agriculture department got first position in research proposal competition among participating universities from Punjab, KPK and Islamabad participating in the capacity-building program

TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT FUND (TDF) AWARENESS SEMINAR

The office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) managed to attend an awareness seminar for nominated faculty members of Rawalpindi Women University organized by Higher education Commission Islamabad in collaboration with Air University, Islamabad on 29^th November, 2022. The Technology Development Fund (TDF) initiative was approved by the Government of Pakistan to provide academic researchers with a platform and opportunity to interact with the industry. The seminar was conducted to discuss the project submission procedures for fourth call for proposals related to TDF and provide a suitable platform for researchers who are seeking funds to commercialize their innovative ideas. The seminar was attended by Additional Director ORIC and nominated faculty members from worthy Vice Chancellor, Rawalpindi Women University.

Dr. Motsim Billah; Additional Director, ORIC joined a training titled, “Research Innovation, And Commercialization” was organized by Punjab Higher Education Commission Lahore for all Punjab universities’ Directors ORICs.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir; Chairman, PHEC and RajaYassir Humayun Sarfraz; Minister for Higher Education, Punjab also addressed the participants for the betterment of their respective departments and promote research culture in their institutions / Universities.

SEMINAR ON “INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH JOURNALS LAUNCHING & INDEXING”

ORIC has initiated the drive to launch research journals from various departments of Rawalpindi Women University. In this regard an interactive and informative seminar titled “Introduction to Research Journals Launching and Indexing” was organized for the focal persons of all academic departments by the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) under the directions of Patron in Chief; Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) on December 29^th, 2022.

The resource person for the said seminar is Dr. Amjad Shahzad Gondalm Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan and Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Rawalpindi Women University.

The main objective of this seminar was to provide preliminary knowledge related to the launching and indexing process of research Journals under the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission. Nominated focal persons who were working on the research journal launching from Rawalpindi Women University joined the seminar as participants and Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal; Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest of the seminar.

An awareness seminar titled “Forensic DNA Technology; Opportunities & Challenges” was organized by the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with the Department of Botany and Zoology, Rawalpindi Women University on 27th December, 2022. The resource person for the seminar was Dr. Ahmad Farooq (Assistant Professor) from the Department of Molecular Biology, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) Islamabad. He shared comprehensive insight into different aspects of the technology related to forensic science and its applied nature in every sphere of life. He also highlighted the huge potential of interdisciplinary research in forensic science to formulate indigenous solutions to the problems in his scholastic talk.

NATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY ORGANIZATION (NPO) WORKSHOP “INNOVATION FOR HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY & QUALITY”

The workshop was attended by Dr. Nasir Mehmood, Assistant Director ORIC, Rawalpindi Women University dated 18^th January, 2022 at Hill View Hotel, Islamabad. The Chief Guest of the workshop was Mr. Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI). And the Guest of Honor was Mr. Naeem Ashraf, Senior Vice President, Rawalpindi Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries.

The guest Speakers emphasized that countries around the globe are on the hunt to make rapid economic advancements to increase prosperity. Prosperity needs natural resources (geographical location, labour, interest rate) and existing endowments in the case of Pakistan we should have to adopt the idea of innovation leading to productivity. There lie several opportunities by identification of problems in existing systems/processes to start contributing to the impact by successfully implementing innovative and reengineered solutions.

MOU BETWEEN RAWALPINDI WOMEN UNIVERSITY (RWU) AND THE INSTITUTE OF PEACE AND DIPLOMATIC STUDIES, ISLAMABAD (IPDS)

A memorandum of understanding regarding the development of bilateral cooperation in Knowledge Sharing, Research-and-Development and Capacity Building in the fields of International Relations (IR), Diplomatic Studies, Women Peace and Leadership and other areas of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts for the mutual benefit of both organizations between Rawalpindi Women University, Rawalpindi (RWU) and the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, Islamabad (IPDS) was signed at the Vice Chancellor office of RWU on Wednesday 6th July, 2022. The Vice Chancellor, RWU; Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal and the President of IPDS; Ms. Farhat Asif in the presence of the focal persons for MOU; Additional Director ORIC RWU; Dr, Motsim Billah and Director of IPDS, Mr. Asif Noor, signed the document.
